�鶹��Ƶ students are working with the U.S. Department of State to find out what motivates students to study abroad, specifically in Southeast South Korea.

Award-winning journalist, broadcast host, and filmmaker Rokhaya Diallo is �鶹��Ƶ’s 2024 Sojourner Truth Lecture speaker and award recipient.

�鶹��Ƶ has retained its “green light” rating from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and College Pulse, the organization’s highest rating for free speech protection. The foundation also had previously ranked George �鶹��Ƶ as No. 8 in the nation for protecting free speech rights.

�鶹��Ƶ alum Jada Salter has created a feature-length documentary about her grandfather, award-winning composer and songwriter William (Bill) Salter. The film is called "Just the Two of Us" after his Grammy Award-winning hit song.

�鶹��Ƶ School of Dance professor Lawrence Jackson and students attended the International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance in January 2024.

Kayla Moore sees testing for sexually transmitted diseases as a key part of public health, and the doorway to a healthy community. Moore is currently getting her Master of Clinical Social Work at �鶹��Ƶ’s College of Public Health, and in recognition of the 25th anniversary of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, has organized a two-part event at �鶹��Ƶ’s Fairfax Campus that speaks to public health.

�鶹��Ƶ Creative Writing Professor Tania James is having an amazing year. Since her novel Loot was released by Knopf in June 2023, the accolades haven’t stopped.

As a film student at �鶹��Ƶ, Roberto Ferreira De Araujo wanted to celebrate diversity and highlight the full spectrum of experiences represented by the LGBTQ+ community. During his first semester at �鶹��Ƶ in fall 2022, Ferreira De Araujo and two of his classmates created the Here and Queer Film Festival as a final project for a class.

Six graduate students from �鶹��Ƶ’s Department of Global and Community Health presented a four-pronged solution to address health care and homelessness among Washington, D.C., area women at the D.C. Public Health Case Challenge.
