�鶹��Ƶ’s Institute of Digital Innovation (IDIA) recently welcomed the inaugural cohort of Public-Private Partnership (P3) Faculty Fellows. The Fellows Program aims to spark research collaborations between the university and industry partners on impactful societal problems and deliver state-of-the-art digital solutions to the local, regional, or national economy.

Andrew Opitz first came to �鶹��Ƶ as a freshman over a decade ago. After taking a hiatus from school, he graduated from the Film and Video Studies (FAVS) Program in May 2023. Opitz’s film, Jazz, which he directed for his senior capstone, was a semi-finalist in the Student Academy Awards Alternative/Experimental category.

HNRS 360 The Silkroad and the Railroad is the kind of course that could only happen at �鶹��Ƶ. With artists-in-residence Silkroad Ensemble as partners, 25 Honors College students from 17 majors are exploring cultures and histories, music and narratives, impacts and legacies of the Transcontinental Railroad.

�鶹��Ƶ alum Alex Hussein (BS Information Systems and Operations Management ‘21), who is also known as @DC Spot, shares his recommendations for a few must-go-restaurants in local Fairfax. Alex is a food influencer with over 215,000 Instagram followers. His videos feature eateries throughout the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas.

�鶹��Ƶ anthropologist Jamie Clark and two undergraduate students spent part of the summer on an archaeological expedition in Sefunim Cave, Israel.  

Kimberly Montesflores Gonzalez already had a strong relationship with �鶹��Ƶ before she enrolled as a freshman this fall.

�鶹��Ƶ professor and alum Susan Howard created Go Nisha Go, an award-winning game that helps girls and young women in India navigate and negotiate life choices.

�鶹��Ƶ's annual Roger Wilkins Lecture is a tribute to the late Robinson Professor Emeritus of History and American Culture. Wilkins’ daughter, Elizabeth, was on hand Tuesday to introduce this year’s guest speaker, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Matthew Desmond.

A �鶹��Ƶ multidisciplinary research team recently received $5,000 in funding from the VentureWell Accelerator to continue to develop their app iCONNECT SUD.
