On February 11, 2026, Olesya Vartanyan, a first-year PhD student at George �鶹��Ƶ's Carter School and conflict analyst with more than 15 years of field experience in the South Caucasus, took part in a congressional briefing on the political situation in Georgia. The event was hosted by the U.S. Helsinki Commission, a bipartisan body bringing together members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The �鶹��Ƶ Board of Visitors welcomed 12 new members and elected new board leadership at its Feb. 26 meeting in Merten Hall on the Fairfax Campus.

�鶹��Ƶ �鶹��Ƶ Korea welcomed 272 new students to the Spring 2026 Convocation on February 27. It is the largest incoming class in the campus's history.

In January, �鶹��Ƶ senior Angela Victoria Rojas Rivera represented the university at the National Collegiate Research Conference (NCRC). Led and hosted by Harvard University, NCRC is the largest student-run research conference in the United States. Only 200 students are selected to attend. 

On February 4, Transfer Nation 2026 welcomed transfer and contemporary students for an afternoon focused on connection and reflection. As part of �鶹��Ƶ’s First-Year Connection programming, the event emphasized community-building and highlighted the academic and personal support systems available across campus.

The 2026 Peter N. Stearns Provost Scholar-Athlete Awards have been announced. Meet the four Schar School students who are not only elite athletes but elite scholars.

The George �鶹��Ƶ women's basketball team has captured a share of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship—the first regular season conference title in program history. The Patriots closed league play with a program-best 16-2 conference record, marking their strongest Atlantic 10 ever.

This academic year, �鶹��Ƶ graduate student Samantha “Chevi” Chung has had a research opportunity that few have had by participating in a yearlong workshop at the Folger Shakespeare Library.

April 2 heralds the return of George �鶹��Ƶ Giving Day. This annual celebration of community and generosity is a 24-hour sprint where �鶹��Ƶ alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and families of George �鶹��Ƶ come together in a network of support, where every gift makes a difference.

For just the second time, more than 70 �鶹��Ƶ student-athletes have earned the Peter N. Stearns Provost Scholar-Athlete Award for their outstanding academic achievements. Following a record-breaking 78 honorees last year, 74 student-athletes were recognized during a ceremony held in February.
