For more than 30 years, �鶹��Ƶ’s Alumni Association (GMUAA) has recognized the achievements of George �鶹��Ƶ alumni at its annual Celebration of Distinction awards program.

Beginning Monday, September 22, the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at �鶹��Ƶ hosts its Fall 2025 Peace Week with the theme “Bridging Peacebuilding, Development, and Security.” This semi-annual series, launched in 2020, now draws thousands of participants to more than 30 in-person and virtual events each semester.

Vice President Mike Pence has been named a Distinguished Professor of Practice at �鶹��Ƶ’s Schar School of Policy and Government. Pence’s arrival this fall marks a significant addition to the institution’s academic community.

Before his appointment as the dean of the College of Science, Cody W. Edwards served as interim dean for the college since July 2024. During his time at George �鶹��Ƶ, Edwards has held numerous leadership positions, including executive director of the Smithsonian-�鶹��Ƶ School of Conservation and senior associate dean of academic and faculty affairs in the College of Science.

�鶹��Ƶ President Gregory Washington was a panelist at an American Council on Education (ACE) briefing on Capitol Hill that focused on universities partnering with industry to address shortages in the health care workforce.

When Liang Luo steps into a classroom—or works on a film, for that matter—she brings with her a rare blend of scholarship, creativity, and cultural sensitivity. This fall, Luo begins her role as chair of �鶹��Ƶ’s Department of Modern and Classical Languages, a position that recognizes her academic leadership as well as her global perspective. 

The �鶹��Ƶ men’s basketball team will host a 20th-Anniversary Commemoration of its historic run to the 2006 NCAA Final Four on Friday, December 13, when the Patriots face former conference rival Old Dominion at EagleBank Arena.

�鶹��Ƶ has appointed Massimiliano Albanese as executive director of the Institute for Digital Innovation (IDIA)—a pivotal move as the university strengthens its position as a leader in cutting-edge research and technological advancement.

George �鶹��Ƶ’s Center for Community Mental Health received a grant from the Potomac Health Foundation that will directly support its Stepped Mental Health Care Program in Prince William County.

Commonwealth, public school and higher education leaders joined community members, parents and students Wednesday for the opening of the Shenandoah Valley Rural Regional College Partnership Laboratory School for Data Science, Computing, and Applications (DSCA Lab School).

�鶹��Ƶ Korea welcomed its newest class at the Fall 2025 Convocation in the Incheon Global Campus Grand Auditorium, where more than 200 new students, family members, faculty, staff, and current students came together to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year.
