School of Art professor Christopher Kardambikis was determined to focus his operations and curriculum on printmaking processes that are nontoxic, energy efficient, and supportive of the repurposing of paper scraps into new usable sheets.

On May 21, 1983, �鶹��Ƶ awarded its first doctoral degree, a doctor of arts in education, to Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, a teacher at nearby West Springfield High School.

On April 7, 2022, �鶹��Ƶ celebrated its 50th anniversary as an independent public university. That day and the week of events surrounding it illuminated �鶹��Ƶ as a university that is altogether different.

The Hylton Performing Arts Center hosted a special two-day celebration with the 12th Anniversary Gala on April 29 and 30. The first Anniversary Gala held in-person since 2019, the event welcomed more than 1,000 guests and supported the Hylton Center’s mission of presenting diverse performances and programs of high quality and artistic excellence to inspire, educate, and enrich the community.

Amarda Shehu, a professor in the department of computer science in the College of Engineering and Computing, is an inaugural founding co-director of the Center for Advancing Human-Machine Partnerships (CAHMP). She begins her new role with IDIA on May 25.

�鶹��Ƶ students attended a screening of the documentary “Guardians of the Forest” and the talkback with leaders of the Maijuna indigenous group in Peru, who were featured in the film.

Einav Hart, an assistant professor of management at �鶹��Ƶ’s School of Business, shows the economic implications of negotiators’ relationships, and how these economic implications affect how people negotiate. Her recent paper in Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes (co-authored with Maurice Schweitzer at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania) introduces the construct “ERRO” (the Economic Relevance of negotiators’ Relational Outcomes) to shed light on when negotiators should consider their future relationships.
