The entire �鶹��Ƶ community is being asked to upload their vaccination status by Aug. 1.

The Fairfax Campus will host a large-scale public safety training exercise Friday, July 30, with the FBI and other federal, regional and local public safety agencies .

�鶹��Ƶ is joining the growing community of universities that require all students, faculty, and staff to get vaccinated, and to share verification of their vaccination status, in order to work, study, and live on campus.

Fairfax, Va.—�鶹��Ƶ is pleased to announce that Dr. Sharnnia Artis has been named Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, effective September 1. Artis currently serves as Assistant Dean of Access and Inclusion in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences and Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, one of the most diverse engineering programs in the nation.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam last month appointed a new member to the �鶹��Ƶ Board of Visitors and reappointed three others. All will serve four-year terms on the 16-member body.

Our enrollment has tripled in 30 years to more than 39,000 students, attracted to the high quality of �鶹��Ƶ’s innovative programs as well as its value and advantageous location.

Students and faculty collaborated to create UNIV 381: Foundations for Building a Just Society, a three-credit class that fulfills two �鶹��Ƶ Core requirements—global understanding and social/behavioral sciences—and is projected to evolve over time into a required course for all students.

�鶹��Ƶ, the largest public research university in Virginia, has a strong tradition of conducting research of consequence, from our pioneering work in cybersecurity to developing new ways of testing for COVID-19.

�鶹��Ƶ is launching a brand awareness called “The Secret’s Out,” which aims to reintroduce �鶹��Ƶ to Northern Virginia and to remind the on-campus community, alumni and supporters how �鶹��Ƶ has emerged as an educational, cultural and economic driver over the past half-century.

�鶹��Ƶ grew its number of Pell Grant-receiving students by the fifth-largest total in the country over the past five years, the American Talent Initiative announced last week in a progress report that tracks enrollment of lower-income students at the ATI’s 130 member institutions.
