The fight to slow the spread of COVID-19 continues as George Â鶹ÊÓƵ prepares for the fall semester

A key component of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s return to campus this month is addressing the mental health of students and employees and providing additional resources for those who might feel anxious about coming to campus or who are struggling to deal with the ongoing pandemic.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ boosts the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region economy by supplying an educated, skilled, and multifaceted workforce, by partnering with key employers, and through the Â鶹ÊÓƵ-based Virginia Small Business Development Center.

Derek Horstmeyer, who specializes in corporate finance at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s School of Business, has guided about 15 students with independent research projects and then helped them get recognition for their work.

Freshmen moving into the residence halls on Wednesday, Aug. 18, marks the start of the 2021-22 academic year at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Professor Andrew Light was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as  assistant secretary for international affairs of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on Aug. 11.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Professor Aditya Johri has received a Fulbright-Nokia Distinguished Chair in Information and Communication Technologies award to conduct research in Finland during the 2021-22 academic year. Johri is a professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's College of Engineering and Computing.
