After more than 32 years of service in the Chamber of Commerce, �鶹��Ƶ alum Debbie Jones is retiring this December.

With the support of her �鶹��Ƶ mentors, doctoral student Shrishti Singh has achieved her goal of developing a promising new technology that would allow cancer to be visualized in deep tissue and perhaps diagnosed earlier.

A double major and member of the Honors College, Juan Escalera came to �鶹��Ƶ as an alumnus of the university’s Early Identification Program.

During her time at �鶹��Ƶ, University Scholar Aloana Hall had internships at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project and the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.

For almost 10 years, Melissa Cannarozzi has worked in �鶹��Ƶ’s Office of University Branding. She has spent half that time taking classes part-time and working on a master of arts in history.

�鶹��Ƶ senior communications major Jalen Stubbs participated in a "Future U" podcast at the Chronicle Ideas Festival. The podcast, with two students from other universities, focused on student experiences in higher education.

For �鶹��Ƶ Korea students, the transition from Songdo, Korea, to Fairfax, Virginia, can be challenging, but the opportunities are immense. Many students pursuing their degree at �鶹��Ƶ Korea are looking to a future career in the United States. This makes their time in Fairfax critical. The School of Business accounting program is one of the most popular degrees offered at �鶹��Ƶ Korea, and faculty in Fairfax work hard to offer students support for their future career success.

Among the resources available to students to make sure they are on the right path are fellow students trained to be “peer academic advisors.”

Student entrepreneurs Arastalis B. Choudhury and Fariha Askar and their company NECX are part of the MIX's incubator program.

As a sophomore, electrical engineering major Sai Srivatsav Gutala started a student club called the Inventors and Innovations Team (IIT) with one of his classmates, computer engineering major Nicholas Paschke.

It has been busy year at the �鶹��Ƶ Innovation Exchange (MIX). Since the �鶹��Ƶ makerspace opened in its new space in Horizon Hall in September 2021, it has seen a lot of traffic—more than 9,000 visitors in spring 2022—and has some successes to report.
