During winter break, fifty-three George �鶹��Ƶ students participated in three-week micro-internships via Break Through Tech DC’s Sprinternship program. 

In late September, 18 undergraduates from the Smithsonian-�鶹��Ƶ School of Conservation‘s (SMSC) Wildlife Ecology and Conservation program tagged monarch butterflies on their journey south to help researchers better understand their grand migration.

The combat veteran is director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Exercise Division (NED), an important position. But MPA student Shawn Lenore wants to learn how to do it better at the Schar School.

�鶹��Ƶ's Center for Culture, Equity and Empowerment put out a call for illustrators, painters, and graphic designers of all backgrounds to submit art on the theme of this year’s MLK Remembrance events of “Lighting the Pathway: Renewing, Reviving, Restoring and Remembering the Dream.”

The 40 �鶹��Ƶ students who traveled to Richmond for �鶹��Ƶ Lobbies on Jan. 26 shared their college experience with legislators and highlighted the need for increasing financial aid for �鶹��Ƶ students, increased funding per student, and increased staff and faculty salaries for the university to be more competitive in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

Over the summer, 24 students from �鶹��Ƶ’s Antonin Scalia Law School delved deep into issues of constitutional law, separation of powers, and national security in Padua, Italy—a place of inspiration for many of these ideals. The two-week study-abroad trip was co-taught by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and National Security Institute Founder and Executive Director Jamil Jaffer.

This year’s Winter Commencement student speaker is Yasmin Alamin, who is graduating this December with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering.

For her Master of Health Administration capstone, �鶹��Ƶ graduate student Akshaya Chinnathevar Ramesh is interning at The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Capitol Hill and working with a team of analysts working on required reports to Congress on the effects of the No Surprise Act.

During his time at �鶹��Ƶ, Isaiah Epps burnished his résumé with internships at the Federal Aviation Administration and the Jacobs Engineering Group.

Honors College student James Condo has trained in the emerging field of Next System Studies, which involves research into questions of systemic design, change, and movements.

Honors College student Emily Synoski, who graduates this month from �鶹��Ƶ with a biology degree, has also participated in Georgetown University’s competitive CORE pre-med program, where she and her team pitched an idea to deliver opioid overdose treatment to houseless populations via drones.

This month, Paul Vosti will graduate from �鶹��Ƶ with a master’s degree in finance, part of the program’s first cohort of 14 students.
