As a doctoral student at �鶹��Ƶ, Jordan Sims has spent the past several years immersed, literally and figuratively, in the underwater ecosystems of Honduras, where her research is helping solve real-world challenges in coral reef conservation.

Gina S. Brown, PhD, MSA, RN, FAAN (PhD Nursing ’99), has made history as the first woman to become president of Oakwood University. Recognized nationally as a leader in nursing and education, Brown brings extensive experience revitalizing academic institutions and fostering community engagement. She credits her time at �鶹��Ƶ as a formative and supportive chapter in her journey.

The University received notice yesterday from the Department of Justice regarding new Title VI investigations alleging racial discrimination in admissions, scholarships and student benefits and the University’s response to antisemitism on campus.

A new PhD program in robotics will begin taking transfer students this fall. The program is the first in Virginia and one of just a few nationwide.

Skip West, founder of MAXSA Innovations and adjunct faculty at the Costello College of Business at �鶹��Ƶ, offers the course Turning Ideas into Successful Companies once a year to MBA students. The concept for the course came from West’s own entrepreneurial experiences of turning his ideas into companies.

A team in �鶹��Ƶ’s Computer Science Department is taking part in the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) I-Corps program to study the effectiveness of 3D streaming in telehealth environments.

The BOV has retained the Torridon Law firm to represent the university on all matters related to both Department of Education investigations.
