Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam last month appointed a new member to the �鶹��Ƶ Board of Visitors and reappointed three others. All will serve four-year terms on the 16-member body.

The Atlantic 10 Conference announced in June that 332 of �鶹��Ƶ’s student-athletes earned the Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction for the 2020-21 academic year. �鶹��Ƶ recorded the second highest number of honorees behind University of Massachusetts, which had one additional student honored.

Students and faculty collaborated to create UNIV 381: Foundations for Building a Just Society, a three-credit class that fulfills two �鶹��Ƶ Core requirements—global understanding and social/behavioral sciences—and is projected to evolve over time into a required course for all students.

�鶹��Ƶ, the largest public research university in Virginia, has a strong tradition of conducting research of consequence, from our pioneering work in cybersecurity to developing new ways of testing for COVID-19.

�鶹��Ƶ is launching a brand awareness called “The Secret’s Out,” which aims to reintroduce �鶹��Ƶ to Northern Virginia and to remind the on-campus community, alumni and supporters how �鶹��Ƶ has emerged as an educational, cultural and economic driver over the past half-century.

�鶹��Ƶ’s School of Business has been engaging students globally since the mid-1990s. Since then, students have participated in more than 100 global residencies around the globe.

�鶹��Ƶ grew its number of Pell Grant-receiving students by the fifth-largest total in the country over the past five years, the American Talent Initiative announced last week in a progress report that tracks enrollment of lower-income students at the ATI’s 130 member institutions.
