After participating in George Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Nano Boot Campus, George Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumnus and veteran Charles Stewart was hired by Micron Technology.

This month, a new Northern Virginia International Soft-Landing Accelerator (NISA) program, designed to help start-ups from around the globe find guidance, connections, and lab or office spaces at no cost, was launched to help develop new technologies in life sciences.

TJ Master and Elizabeth Pyle, mentors with the Virginia Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) Innovation Commercialization Assistance Program (ICAP), are advising entrepreneurs in the Innovation District.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ received $1 million from the National Science Foundation to establish a program providing hands-on nanofabrication training and education to people seeking a career change.

Beginning fall 2025, George Â鶹ÊÓƵ will host the Semiconductor Chip Fabrication and Nano-Characterization certificate program through the Virginia Alliance for Semiconductor Technology (VAST), a statewide consortium advancing microelectronics and nanotechnology training and research where George Â鶹ÊÓƵ serves as a founding member.

This summer, George Â鶹ÊÓƵ graduate students rolled up their sleeves in busy labs, learned their way around unfamiliar equipment, and even played a part in moving clinical trials forward, working with start-ups and biotech companies in the recently established Innovation District anchored by the university’s Science and Technology Campus.

In partnership with Prince William County, Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Biomedical Research Laboratory is working to prevent outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases.

Thanks to a major investment from GO Virginia, Northern Virginia’s first Innovation District, led by Â鶹ÊÓƵ and in partnership with Prince William County and the City of Manassas, is taking shape, laying the groundwork for growth in high-tech industry sectors like life sciences, aerospace, defense, and semiconductors.

The Governor’s School at Innovation Park, located at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Science and Technology Campus, holds a special distinction: It’s Virginia’s only academic-year Governor’s School located on a four-year college campus. That means that high school juniors and seniors spend part of each school day experiencing life as Â鶹ÊÓƵ students. The Governor’s School at Innovation Park celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
