These experts explored how George �鶹��Ƶ's research is powering key industrial segments, including bioscience, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, power engineering and shipbuilding.

Building on his ongoing commitment to �鶹��Ƶ Korea, advisory board member Sam Machour recently announced a new $60,000 pledge for student scholarships. The announcement was made during the Friends of �鶹��Ƶ Korea 10th Anniversary Celebration.

The Class of 2024 graduated into a relatively challenging labor market. Jackie Brown, assistant professor in the Business Foundations area at the Costello College of Business at �鶹��Ƶ, said recent grads should be leaning a little harder into core professional skills, such as networking.

�鶹��Ƶ alum Daniel (Seihoon) Lee said felt like an outsider for much of his life. Bilingual, bicultural, and homeschooled for a time, Lee struggled to figure out where he fit in until he came to �鶹��Ƶ Korea.

�鶹��Ƶ Korea kicked off its 10th anniversary celebrations with a lively reception that brought together �鶹��Ƶ Korea students, faculty, and staff, current and past leaders, visitors from George �鶹��Ƶ's Fairfax Campus; and members of the �鶹��Ƶ Korea advisory board.

�鶹��Ƶ student-athletes continued to post impressive scores in the Academic Progress Rate (APR) release by the NCAA. Four programs produced perfect multi-year NCAA APR scores of 1,000 while a total of 11 teams had a perfect APR for the 2022-23 academic year.

�鶹��Ƶ graduate student Truman Deree is one of 20 students (one of five graduate fellows) awarded a 2024-25 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Visual Arts Fellowship. He received the award for his photography, which he also shares at TrumanDereePhotography on Instagram.

George �鶹��Ƶ researcher Andrew Peterson is part of a team that worked to identify key ethics and policy issues related to the integration of psychedelic therapies into clinical practice and areas for further research and deliberation.

In its fourth year, �鶹��Ƶ Korea's Progress@Play Digital Art Competition continues to grow with more than 300 teams from eight countries competing.

�鶹��Ƶ will be the home of the $19.5 million recently approved Landolt NASA Space Mission that will put an artificial “star” in orbit around the Earth. George �鶹��Ƶ faculty and students will work together with the NASA and NIST and nine other organizations for a first-of-its-kind project for a university in the Washington, D.C., area.

Research by Iulia Fratila, assistant professor in �鶹��Ƶ’s College of Public Health, provides novel insights into attitudes and motivations among cannabis users aged 18-30. 

George �鶹��Ƶ is the home for the new $19.5 million NASA Landolt Space Mission. Led by the College of Science’s Peter Plavchan, with the College of Engineering and Computing, this mission will launch an artificial star in orbit to help scientists calibrate telescopes and measure brightness.
