A partnership between the Brazilian Air Force and the College of Engineering and Computing is yielding explosive results in blast research, in what one faculty members describes as a win-win collaboration.

A senior delegation from �鶹��Ƶ’s Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations and Costello College of Business, along with Fairfax City Economic Development, recently visited �鶹��Ƶ Korea for a weeklong strategic engagement to promote entrepreneurship education and business development.

Li-Mei Chen assistant professor in the Department of Social Work, and Health Services Research PhD student Linda Hayes Bennett participated in the annual Gerontological Society of America’s Capitol Hill Advocacy Day. The advocacy campaign brought together researchers and professionals from across the country to promote aging-related policy priorities and champion additional funding.

The team’s NeuralSAT advanced the frontiers of trustworthy artificial intelligence, earning second place in a highly competitive field of international teams advancing the formal verification of AI systems.

Haoling Wang was taking a professional skills development course taught by Karen King, an associate professor in business foundations at the Costello College of Business, when he was encouraged by her to take advantage of the resources being offered by the college.

�鶹��Ƶ honored its largest ever graduating class at Spring Commencement, turning the event’s “This Is Your Moment” theme into a tassel-turning time to remember for a record-breaking class of more than 12,000 degree and certificate earners.

Spring 2025 Commencement at �鶹��Ƶ on May 15 at EagleBank Arena celebrated more than 12,000 graduates and certificate recipients. Graduates hailed from 117 countries, 49 states, and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and military installations. George �鶹��Ƶ photographers captured the excitement and spirit of the day.

When Dawn Lowry, the director of �鶹��Ƶ’s forensics team, recruits prospective students to join the university’s intercollegiate speech team, she reviews videos of high school competitions.  A competitive speech coach for more than 30 years, Lowry remembers being blown away the first time she watched footage of now economics major Prem Ganesan in action.

Kun Sun, professor in the Department Information Sciences and Technology, will work with local company CodeLock on software security, supported by the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative's Academic Support for Cybersecurity Entrepreneurship and Next-Gen Development (ASCEND) Fund. 

A �鶹��Ƶ team of Systems and Industrial Engineering (SIE) won awards for developing a training system to assist people working toward their drone pilot license.

Leticia Nunez Nova’s desire to nurture a business from the ground up paved the way for a series of internships with start-up companies.

Senior of the Year Haley White said double majoring in business and art history was one of the best decisions she made during her time at �鶹��Ƶ. Her second best decision was joining the �鶹��Ƶ Chooses Kindness initiative.
