Newly selected �鶹��Ƶ President Gregory Washington told a group of journalists Thursday that he’s “ecstatic” to be the school’s eighth president. He will join the university on July 1, 2020.

�鶹��Ƶ is taking the lead in a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) designed to assess the threat of rising sea levels and flooding to Maryland’s coastal communities.

�鶹��Ƶ will honor trailblazing former NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson in the days following her death on Monday morning. She was 101.

The �鶹��Ƶ Board of Visitors on Monday announced the selection of Dr. Gregory Washington as the university’s eighth president.
