The 2023 ASEE SE conference brought together engineering educators, industry leaders, and students to discuss and learn about the importance of promoting a diverse, digitally prepared workforce within engineering and STEM education paths.

Food insecurity is something that Drew Bonner, a second-year sociology PhD student at �鶹��Ƶ, experienced before he knew what to call it.

�鶹��Ƶ’s Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media (RRCHNM), the Fairfax City’s Office of Historic Resources, and the Brandy Station Foundation recently received a $60,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Office of Preservation and Access, to support their digital archive project.

On February 24, the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, �鶹��Ƶ’s Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution hosted “One Year After: Ukraine War Analysis and Prospects,” an all-day virtual event to discuss the effects of the war and potential post-war contexts. The event featured Romantsova Oleksandra, executive director of the Center for Civil Liberties, the first Ukrainian organization to win a Noble Peace Prize. The recognition, which the human rights organization received in 2022, was due in part to their work documenting war crimes against civilians in occupied areas of Ukraine.

Last year, students at �鶹��Ƶ joined contestants from around the world to predict the peak bloom date of cherry trees at  four global locations. The international Cherry Blossom Prediction Competition was a huge success and is gaining traction during its second annual run. 

Experts and leaders in the fields of education and information technology came together at �鶹��Ƶ to discuss how advances in the digital landscape can be harnessed to solve the unique challenges facing today’s educators in a two-day Dell Technologies Innovation Summit held in February at �鶹��Ƶ Square in Arlington, Virginia.

The new Graduate Division, directed by Associate Provost Laurence Bray, plays a lead role in preparing well-rounded and diverse graduates to contribute to research productivity and workforce development.

Professors from �鶹��Ƶ's Dewberry School of Music and �鶹��Ƶ's School of Dance collaborated to create a performance that brought together dancers and musicians live onstage.
