This spring a small team of Â鶹ÊÓƵ students used the Patriot Green Fund to enhance the diversity of the university’s Honey Bee Pollinator Garden. This garden, which sits outside of Roberts House on the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Fairfax Campus, serves as a biodiverse pollinator haven for the bees currently residing nearby in one of the Honey Bee Initiative’s apiaries.

The first Â鶹ÊÓƵ Day took place four years before the university’s first Commencement, and it’s been the event to look forward to ever since.

Sponsored by the Institute for a Sustainable Earth (ISE) and the Business for a Better World Center, the 17 Rooms-U produced dozens of ideas, some of which were combined during follow-up conversations. Groups championing those ideas are now receiving up to $5,000 in seed money to implement their sustainability plans.

Ingrid Guerra-López, PhD has been named the next dean of the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. She will assume this role on July 1, 2022.

American Internet pioneer Vinton Cerf, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Professor Edward Maibach, and Admiral James Fogo III, USN (Ret.) will provide keynote interviews during the 15th annual STAR-TIDES Capabilities Demonstration, which runs from Monday-Wednesday, April 18-20, at Merten Hall on the Fairfax Campus.

On June 10, 2010, Â鶹ÊÓƵ opened the Biomedical Research Laboratory (BRL) on the Science and Technology Campus in Prince William County. Here, Â鶹ÊÓƵ researchers have been able to advance their groundbreaking work on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Police Department is lending its aerial assets to efforts to free the large container ship stuck in the Chesapeake Bay after running aground more than a month ago.

This year, that cause supported by Â鶹ÊÓƵ Vision Day was the Green Machine Ensembles, a group made up of hundreds of students, alumni, and community members devoted to celebrating the power of music to inspire spirit and shape lives.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ earned a silver-level designation from Exercise is Medicine-On Campus (EIM-OC) for its commitment to health and wellness.
