George D. Schindler, former president and chief executive officer of business and information technology company CGI, will be the featured speaker at �鶹��Ƶ’s Winter Commencement on Dec. 19 at EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

The annual �鶹��Ƶ Nation Thriving Together 5K and 1-mile run/walk took place on �鶹��Ƶ’s Fairfax Campus on Saturday, Oct. 19. This year, more than 400 people registered for the event.

Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin has appointed Jamil N. Jaffer, the founder and executive director of the National Security Institute (NSI), to his new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force, which will work with legislators to regulate rapidly advancing AI technology. Jaffer is one of 10 appointees to the task force, alongside NSI Fellow Zach Graves.

This month the organizers of the Foragers’ Forest on George �鶹��Ƶ’s Fairfax Campus marked the project’s first anniversary with the planting of endangered American chestnut trees.

Fall for the Book, Northern Virginia’s oldest and largest festival of literature and the arts, kicks off its 26th season in the City of Fairfax on Saturday, Oct. 12, and runs through Oct. 18.

�鶹��Ƶ is a new sponsor of It’s Academic, the longest-running high school quiz show in the world. The weekly competition series will broadcast exclusively on WETA PBS, beginning Oct. 12 and running through June 2025.

James W. “Jimmy” Hazel, JD ’84, has led a life of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia—and to �鶹��Ƶ. He recently added to his considerable legacy with a gift of $1 million for the Smithsonian-�鶹��Ƶ School of Conservation.
