Shaza Andersen, a �鶹��Ƶ alumna and founder and CEO of Trustar Bank, will be the featured speaker at �鶹��Ƶ’s Winter Graduation this month.

“I want you to know that I see you,” President Gregory Washington said, speaking directly to students in the audience at EagleBank Arena on Thursday afternoon and others tuning in to the event on GMU-TV. “I honor you. And I dedicate my presidency to you.

With one-third of the federal workforce eligible for retirement, now is an opportune time for college students to consider pursuing internships and careers in the federal government, Kiran Ahuja, the director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), said Monday in a visit to �鶹��Ƶ.

�鶹��Ƶ President Gregory Washington thanked the university community at the Board of Visitors (BOV) meeting on Thursday for its efforts to manage the pandemic and shifted focus toward the goals he announced in July to “transform the campus and move it from a good campus to a great one.”

�鶹��Ƶ is disbursing millions of dollars in CARES Act funding to more than 14,000 eligible students this fall, with the latest funds to be awarded in early September.

�鶹��Ƶ President Gregory Washington and a host of �鶹��Ƶ student, faculty and staff representatives welcomed the largest incoming class in the university’s history at two convocations Friday, Aug. 20.

A key component of �鶹��Ƶ’s return to campus this month is addressing the mental health of students and employees and providing additional resources for those who might feel anxious about coming to campus or who are struggling to deal with the ongoing pandemic.

As �鶹��Ƶ strives to be a national leader in anti-racism and inclusive excellence, a few changes in line with that goal have been implemented for the fall semester.

Mandatory vaccinations and a return to wearing masks indoors on campus are two of the primary tools �鶹��Ƶ will use this fall to provide a safe living, learning and working environment.
