Award-winning novelist Priyanka Champaneri is returning to the classroom this week as part of �鶹��Ƶ’s Visiting Writers Series.

�鶹��Ƶ’s School of Dance students are excited to be back performing before a live audience as they present “Fall: New Dances" on Nov. 12–13 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on �鶹��Ƶ’s SciTech Campus.

�鶹��Ƶ doctoral students LeNaya Crandall Hezel and Lt. Col. Michelle Ruehl are part of the 2021 class of Tillman Scholars, named in honor of Pat Tillman, the former NFL star who was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 while serving with the U.S. Army Rangers.

Isidore Nsengiyumva, only four years old at the time, was in the fields with his father and older brother in Burundi, when suddenly they heard the sound of motors and guns. Troops involved in the country’s civil war attacked their village, and rapidly, their lives were changed.

“We hid in a bush, and when the noise of the guns and fighting subsided, we went back and found our home burned,” Nsengiyumva said. “That’s when my dad decided it was no longer safe.”

�鶹��Ƶ 100 students attended the Fall 2021 Communication Career Forum hosted by �鶹��Ƶ’s Department of Communication and its external advisory board, the Insight Committee. There they had the opportunity to interact in person with public affairs specialists, media producers, journalists, health communicators and marketers.
