Summer goes by fast—whether you’re a kid, or a kid at heart. The K-12 students who attended camps and youth programs at �鶹��Ƶ this year filled those fleeting summer days with memories. Here are some snapshots from their summer to remember. 

One person has portrayed three different �鶹��Ƶ mascots over the years, including the tricorn-hat Gunston (1993), the brief Gorilla period (1994), and the fuzzy Gunston (1996). He is still a �鶹��Ƶ employee. Who is it?

�鶹��Ƶ Recreation celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new pickleball courts on Tuesday, July 18.

The �鶹��Ƶ baseball team claimed the 2023 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship with a 6-2 victory over fourth-seeded Saint Louis.

�鶹��Ƶ Athletics has been building its leadership roster this spring with the addition of a new athletic director, a new men’s basketball head coach, and the extension of �鶹��Ƶ’s women’s basketball head coach’s contract.

FAIRFAX, VA (April 19, 2023) �鶹��Ƶ President Gregory Washington has named Marvin Lewis as the Patriots’ Assistant Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Lewis, who signed a five-year contract, will become �鶹��Ƶ’s sixth athletics director when he begins on July 1.

A key starter on the 2006 George �鶹��Ƶ Final Four team and one of the best all-around guards in program history, Skinn returns to his alma mater after nearly a decade of collegiate coaching.

“We are moving quickly and looking nationwide to identify our next men’s head basketball coach, and we expect to have an announcement soon,” Washington said.

Homecoming 2023 at �鶹��Ƶ came in many forms, from a tailgate party, to a win by the men's basketball team, to a day of service and alumni reunions.

Rebecca (Becky) Hartley, who held the position of Assistant Vice President, Research Integrity and Assurance, in the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Impact, died October 16 at the age of 58.
