�鶹��Ƶ alum Shaza Andersen, BA Area Studies ’89, is the featured speaker at the 2021 Winter Graduation ceremony.

Solving climate change is a grand challenge facing the planet. As more individuals and leaders are recognizing the need to switch to environmentally friendly practices, �鶹��Ƶ’s Local Climate Change Planning Initiative (LCCPI) is helping make that a reality for counties across Virginia.

“Our vision is to have �鶹��Ƶ be the lead university in helping counties that lack the resources and expertise in [addressing climate change] get this done,” said Paul Bubbosh, a 1988 �鶹��Ƶ alumnus and adjunct professor at the Schar School and College of Science.

The Young Alumni Commissioning Project, a grant program for recent graduates, announced the fourth round of requests for proposals from interested alumni. The funds granted to recipients will fund new original works of art in a variety of mediums.

Shaza Andersen, a �鶹��Ƶ alumna and founder and CEO of Trustar Bank, will be the featured speaker at �鶹��Ƶ’s Winter Graduation this month.

Award-winning novelist Priyanka Champaneri is returning to the classroom this week as part of �鶹��Ƶ’s Visiting Writers Series.

�鶹��Ƶ 100 students attended the Fall 2021 Communication Career Forum hosted by �鶹��Ƶ’s Department of Communication and its external advisory board, the Insight Committee. There they had the opportunity to interact in person with public affairs specialists, media producers, journalists, health communicators and marketers.

A cultural immersion trip in 2008 brought Charles Davidson (PhD ’19) inside the walls of San Pedro prison in La Paz, Bolivia. What he saw there not only changed his life, he said, but ignited a spark of inspiration that led to peacebuilding efforts around the world.
