George �鶹��Ƶ's top-ranked aviation program allows students to earn a pilot's license while completing their degree.

A group of �鶹��Ƶ mechanical engineering students are building a motorized Vitruvian man for a Center for the Arts (CFA) performance of "Flying to the Stars," a choral concert dedicated to the beginnings of flight from the time of Leonardo da Vinci to the exploration of space. 

The College of Engineering and Computing at �鶹��Ƶ introduces four innovative graduate certificate programs in fall 2024, catering to burgeoning fields of mechanical engineering, computer science, systems engineering and operations research, and electrical and computer engineering. Professors leading each program provide insights into the curricula design, societal impact, and ideal candidates.

A �鶹��Ƶ team including a high school student, a postdoctoral scholar, and a mechanical engineering professor has developed a way to use spent coffee grounds to remove diverse contaminants from water.

�鶹��Ƶ is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop a course in data center engineering and expand the opportunities in its senior capstone courses.

The �鶹��Ƶ Nation’s strength was undeniable at several hackathons in spring 2023. Computer science, cybersecurity engineering, information technology, and mechanical engineering students won challenges on March 25 at the University of Virginia, on April 7-9 at the University of Maryland, and on April 29-30 at Drexel University.

Missy Cummings, a �鶹��Ƶ mechanical engineering professor, calls herself a “tech futurist,” whose job is to “make tech work. It’s not to stop tech, it’s to help it get better.”

The College of Engineering and Computing is offering many new classes at �鶹��Ƶ Square in Arlington this year, including courses for the Graduate Certificate in Naval Ship Design.
