    Through a new large collaborative grant funded by the National Science Foundation, Aditya Johri, professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology, will work with researchers from Iowa State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on use-inspired research to address one of the world’s grand challenges‑‑sustainably feeding the nearly 9 billion people who will inhabit the Earth by 2050.

    The ADVANCE partnership between Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµÂ (Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ) gives NOVA students targeted, personalized support to complete their bachelor's degrees in a timely manner and save money. In addition to cost savings, the benefits of the program include an aligned curriculum, access to facilities and events, no additional application, co-enrollment, and more.

    The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) approved the move to establish a School of Computing at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€”the first such school in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Cybersecurity experts from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s College of Engineering and Computing are playing an important role in protecting American manufacturing automation and supply chains from cyber threats and designing better security into advanced manufacturing plants.

  • The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) approved Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s proposal to set the stage for a reorganization of the Volgenau School of Engineering to a newly formed College of Engineering and Computing, comprising the proposed School of Computing and Volgenau School of Engineering. The College of Engineering and Computing will be led by Ken Ball. The change will become effective on April 1, 2021.

  • Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s first satellite "ASTERIA," part of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Engineering’s ThinSat program, successfully passed environmental testing at the Northrop Grumman facility on Wallops Island and was integrated into a deployer. ASTERIA is now ready for launch.

  • Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµÂ Presidential Chief of Staff Ken Walsh's career is about building bridges. The story of the Brooklyn Bridge inspired him as a freshman engineering student, research on the soil near a bridge over the Salt River near Tempe, Arizona, kept him in graduate school, and his career in higher education has built bridges for students and communities around the world. 

  • Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is poised to be named a managing member in the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII), a $111 million public-private partnership led by the University of Texas at San Antonio.
