For cultural studies PhD student Maillim “May” Santiago, the horror genre presents a way to find the strength to fight life’s difficult battles and accept her true self.

�鶹��Ƶ psychology doctoral student Rafael Esaú Hernández Dubon thrives in his work as a bilingual student clinician. With the support of a Graduate Inclusion and Access (GIA) Scholarship, he is able to work in the Latinx community while pursuing his graduate studies.

Through services offered by �鶹��Ƶ’s Student Health Services (SHS) and the Student Support and Advocacy Center (SSAC), students can be proactive in understanding what constitutes risky substance behavior, keeping their own habits in check, getting support, and spotting potential issues in their or others’ behavior.

For some, working on their taxes can be an anxiety-riddled experience, but for Anne Magro, co-executive director of the Business for a Better World Center (B4BW) and associate professor of accounting, tax is where she thrives. She’s so exceptional, in fact, that Anne was honored as the top tax educator in the nation, receiving the prestigious Ray M. Sommerfeld Outstanding Tax Educator Award from the American Taxation Association (ATA) at the organization’s mid-year meeting earlier this year.

As part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, �鶹��Ƶ mental health leaders want to educate the campus community about the issues surrounding suicide and mental health, enabling Patriots to take part in suicide prevention, help others in crisis, and change the conversation around suicide.

Tiffany Sandstrum from the �鶹��Ƶ’s College of Education and Human Development was recently named the V. Ann Lewis Academic Advisor of the Year in recognition of her outstanding care and commitment to supporting undergraduates’ academic achievement.

When �鶹��Ƶ PhD student Gifty Mensah was working on her master’s degree in microbiology, she realized the tangible impact of research.

Just in time for spring, �鶹��Ƶ’s new meditation garden and labyrinth are now open to the community.

The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being, Student Health Services and the Center for Psychological Services recently joined together to ensure all members of the �鶹��Ƶ community—faculty, staff, students and contractors—have immediate free access to brief mental health services.

�鶹��Ƶ has submitted its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), "Transformative Education through Anti-Racist Community Engagement," to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), as part of its upcoming reaffirmation of accreditation.
