�鶹��Ƶ PhD student Dinesh Karri has been working with the student teams competing in the annual Defend the Republic LTA robotics competition, held this year at EagleBank Arena.

�鶹��Ƶ’s iconic cherry tree grove by �鶹��Ƶ Pond turns 30 this year. The first trees were donated in 1993 by the members of the student organization Club Nippon in celebration of �鶹��Ƶ’s annual International Week.

In fall 2022, �鶹��Ƶ physics major Billy Bates ran for Fairfax City Council and won. He was sworn in in January.

The City of Fairfax's new mayor, Catherine Read, is the first woman—and the first �鶹��Ƶ alum—to be Fairfax's mayor.

Researcher Elizabeth “Beth” Phillips is working with collaborators from labs around the country to answer these pressing questions about artificial intelligence and robotics in her role as the principal investigator of �鶹��Ƶ's Applied Psychology and Autonomous System Lab.

The 40 �鶹��Ƶ students who traveled to Richmond for �鶹��Ƶ Lobbies on Jan. 26 shared their college experience with legislators and highlighted the need for increasing financial aid for �鶹��Ƶ students, increased funding per student, and increased staff and faculty salaries for the university to be more competitive in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

Outstanding Faculty Awards recognize faculty at Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities who exemplify the highest standards of teaching, scholarship and service. The award includes a $7,500 gift from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation when they are formally recognized at an in-person ceremony in Richmond on March 7.
