In a spirited speech at Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Winter Graduation, the university president extended a warm welcome to the diverse Winter Class of 2023, comprising 4,700 graduates from 78 countries and 41 states.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ alum Paul Misener, JD ’93, founder and principal of Misener Innovation and a former global vice president at Amazon, is this year's Winter Commencement speaker.

From being an orientation leader to working as an environmental field interpreter for school programs, Jason Mercado made the most of his time at Â鶹ÊÓƵ by building up the campus community.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ will celebrate more than 5,000 students graduating or earning certificates in the Winter Commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at EagleBank Arena.

Inspired by her parents who immigrated from Mexico in search of a better life for their children, Ashley Alvarado-Lopez is following the path her older sister by graduating in winter 2023 with two degrees from Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Paul E. Misener, a scientist, lawyer, engineer and innovator will be the featured speaker at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s 2023 Winter Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

UMGC President Gregory W. Fowler, who will speak at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Winter Commencement on Thursday, December 15, discusses how Â鶹ÊÓƵ influenced his career path, the future of online learning, UMGC’s shared commitment to diversity and accessibility, and the gift of listening.
