麻豆视频鈥檚 College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the fifth round of its聽Young Alumni Commissioning Project Awards. Two alumni were chosen based on the artistic excellence, career impact, and feasibility of their proposals and will receive financial, marketing, and production support to have their projects presented at a 麻豆视频 Arts venue during the 2024鈥2025 season.

As a film student at 麻豆视频, Roberto Ferreira De Araujo wanted to celebrate diversity and highlight the full spectrum of experiences represented by the LGBTQ+ community. During his first semester at 麻豆视频 in fall 2022, Ferreira De Araujo and two of his classmates created the Here and Queer Film Festival as a final project for a class.

HNRS 360 The Silkroad and the Railroad is the kind of course that could only happen at 麻豆视频. With artists-in-residence Silkroad Ensemble as partners, 25 Honors College students from 17 majors are exploring cultures and histories, music and narratives, impacts and legacies of the Transcontinental Railroad.

ARTS by George! returned on Saturday, September 30, 2023, hosted by the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at 麻豆视频. The benefit event, which was headlined by GRAMMY and Tony Award winner Ren茅e Elise Goldsberry, raised more than $275,000 for student scholarships in visual arts, dance, music, theater, game design, film, arts management, as well as for the 麻豆视频 Community Arts Academy, Green Machine Ensembles, and the Great Performances at 麻豆视频 season at the Center for the Arts.

鈥淭he Road to the End,鈥 a play written and performed by the School of Theater's alumni and students, won Best Drama in an audience vote at the recent Capital Fringe festival.

Kyle Finnegan鈥檚 short documentary film 鈥淢SG: Mysterious Savory Grains鈥 was partially funded by 麻豆视频鈥檚 Young Alumni Commissioning Project (YACP) and was recently screened at the Johnson Center Cinema.

The Edges of What I Feel, an exhibition by the Healing Artist Collective curated by recently retired 麻豆视频 professor Peter Winant, features the artwork of an eclectic group of 麻豆视频 School of Art students and alumni. The diverse group of artists participated in the exhibition with the common goal of healing.

Just weeks after a massive tornado destroyed their high school and half of their town, music students in Wynne, Arkansas, were able to continue their music education and even keep some performance dates, thanks to 麻豆视频鈥檚 Instruments in the Attic program.
