This year’s AGA Datathon—a nationwide competition challenging college students to apply their data science skills to solve real-world government accountability problems—drew talent from many of the nation’s top business colleges. The Costello College of Business at Â鶹ÊÓƵ was well represented by the team known as the Fiscal Patriots, who rose above the competition to capture first place.

The Costello College of Business at Â鶹ÊÓƵ announced a significant increase in scholarship money awarded to students—$1.3 million for the 2024-2025 academic year—$500,000 of which went to named scholarships. Over the past five years, both the total amount of scholarship funding and the number of students who have received Costello scholarships have more than doubled.

Working full-time while getting a graduate degree is no easy feat. But for Air Force veteran and soon-to-be Â鶹ÊÓƵ alum Kathleen Gillmore, hard work is second nature.

After taking the Survey of Accounting 203 course with Muhammad Awais (BS Accounting ‘13, MS Accounting ‘14), an adjunct instructor at the Costello College of Business, Khaled Alkurd knew everything he needed to know to switch his area of study from marketing to accounting.

Skip West, founder of MAXSA Innovations and adjunct faculty at the Costello College of Business at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, offers the course Turning Ideas into Successful Companies once a year to MBA students. The concept for the course came from West’s own entrepreneurial experiences of turning his ideas into companies.

Receiving the Janis S. Reed Scholarship sharpened the focus even more for the goal-oriented Anh Tran. Wrapping up her final semester as an undergraduate student in accounting and completing the bachelor’s to accelerated master’s (BAM) program, she already had her eyes on the larger picture.

Meet Bo Galles, our Costello MS in Real Estate Development Student Ambassador, who brings his experience as a retail broker at KLNB, specializing in pad sites and new construction projects. He encourages aspiring candidates to join industry organizations like NAIOP and attend networking events to build valuable connections.
