Melissa Perry, ScD, MHS, Dean of George �鶹��Ƶ’s College of Public Health, will graduate this spring with her Costello MBA—her third graduate degree, earned while serving as a full-time dean, raising two children, and leading one of the largest and fastest-growing public health programs in the region.

After eight years in the U.S. Army, Allen Taber, MBA ’22, was looking for a way to grow in his career. The Donald G. Costello College of Business at �鶹��Ƶ provided him the tools he was seeking. Taber came to George �鶹��Ƶ for an MBA, and left with a new dream of pursuing a doctorate.

Born and raised in Paris, France, Ava Uppal, BS Marketing ’19, fondly recalls baking with her mother and turning simple ingredients into heartfelt memories. Now, as a part-time MBA student and a working mother of two, she’s a small business owner and author of a new cookbook.

As George �鶹��Ƶ doctoral student Jericho McLeod reviewed literature on disease transmission as part of his PhD work, he and George �鶹��Ƶ professor Eduardo López noticed a gap in the models and now seek to correct it.

Each summer, MBA students at the Costello College of Business travel abroad as part of their global residency experience. John Davis, the Costello MBA student ambassador, shared his experience and the project he and his team completed in the UAE.

When hearing the term “sustainability” in business circles, there’s often a misconception that it hinders growth. For the last three years, the MBA elective course Environmentally Sustainable Operations has offered interested graduate students from across �鶹��Ƶ the opportunity to work with companies from multiple industries on making the business case for sustainability.

�鶹��Ƶ alumna Kristen Cavallo was named the Virginia Business Magazine Business Person of 2023, a distinction that recognizes her achievements in growing companies while emphasizing diversity in leadership.

The Donald G. Costello College of Business at �鶹��Ƶ is committed to the active-duty military service members and veterans who come to �鶹��Ƶ to enhance their education. We caught up with some military veterans who recently graduated from the �鶹��Ƶ MBA program who shared the impact the MBA program has had on their career already, and how the �鶹��Ƶ MBA could be beneficial for others.

John Tyree, one of �鶹��Ƶ’s University Business Consulting (UBC) consultants, started working at �鶹��Ƶ in 2019, but his connection to the �鶹��Ƶ Nation dates back to 2010.

Despite living and working in the Atlanta metropolitan area, Michael VanPatten, MBA ’90, never lost touch with �鶹��Ƶ. Immediately receptive to post-graduation calls from the alumni relations team, he was eager to connect with alumni and assist students in attaining an MBA. The positive experience he had at �鶹��Ƶ, with instructors who had working knowledge in the areas they were teaching, encouraged his continued engagement.
