Associate Professor Kenneth Strazzeri's innovative teaching methods and curriculum tweaks significantly improved student engagement and success in �鶹��Ƶ's STAT 250 course, resulting in an impressive 80% attendance rate across its sections and a strong foundation in statistical concepts for nearly one thousand students each semester.

The Department of Statistics’ Lily Wang and George Washington University’s Huixia Judy Wang are developing scalable, distributed computing methods to analyze large-scale spatiotemporal datasets. The collaborative research project is funded by the National Science Foundation.  

In the quest to combat Alzheimer's disease, George �鶹��Ƶ professor Abolfazl Safikhani is working with neuroscientists and imaging experts at the University of Washington’s Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) to pioneer groundbreaking advancements in biomarker identification. 

In two recent research projects, George �鶹��Ƶ statistics professor Abolfazl Safikhani has applied machine learning tools to time series analysis of land use and real estate pricing to help decision-makers in urban planning and real estate.  

Research Interests: Network modeling, high-dimensional statistics, spatio-temporal models, unsupervised learning (change point detection, clustering), random forest.

Research Interests: Functional data analysis, computational statistics, Gaussian process modeling, models for compositional data analysis.

Research Interests: Orthogonal arrays, crossover designs, optimal design of experiments, and subdata selection methods.

The George �鶹��Ƶ College of Engineering and Computing statistics department and its Statistics Collaboration Core is working with Inova Health Care Services as part of a partnership called “iTHRIV.”

�鶹��Ƶ will host the 2022 Meeting of New Research in Statistics and Probability conference.

Research Interests: Empirical bayes, sequential analysis, high-dimensional data analysis, large scale inference.
