Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s iconic cherry tree grove by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Pond turns 30 this year. The first trees were donated in 1993 by the members of the student organization Club Nippon in celebration of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s annual International Week.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ graduate student’s cherry blossom monitoring research uses Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a living lab to assess how climate change affects the bloom date of cherry blossom trees on the Fairfax Campus.

Last year, students at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ joined contestants from around the world to predict the peak bloom date of cherry trees at  four global locations. The international Cherry Blossom Prediction Competition was a huge success and is gaining traction during its second annual run.
