More than 300 K-12 students, parents, volunteers, community leaders and partners attended STEAM Fest at the Hybla Valley Community Center in Alexandria on Saturday.

Through an NSF grant titled Situated Algorithmic Thinking: Preparing the Future Computing Workforce for Ethical Decision-Making through Interactive Case Studies, students will develop the mindset to tackle ethics in the digital technology space.

The 2022 Break Through Tech DC summer Guild program at George Â鶹ÊÓƵ took place in June. Students from underrepresented backgrounds had a chance to do a deeper dive into their computing education and career paths through Guild.

Sabrina Stenberg sees the SMART scholarship as a way to maximize her graduate studies at George Â鶹ÊÓƵ while remaining employed as a chemical engineer with the Department of Defense (DoD). Through the scholarship, Stenberg can focus on her master of science in electrical engineering at Â鶹ÊÓƵ full-time.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Padmanabhan Seshaiyer was recently named the winner of the 2022 Inclusivity Award presented by the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).

Britney Aiken, recent information technology grad, says joining the Break Through Tech program at George Â鶹ÊÓƵ allowed her to be surrounded by like -minded people who are just as interested in engineering as she is.

Brenda Henriquez, a brand-new computer science graduate as of May, says she always had Â鶹ÊÓƵ on her radar. She reflects on her time in Break Through Tech and the accomplishments made along the way.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ provided premiere academic sponsorship for the ASEE Industry 4.0 summit, which featured a keynote address from President Gregory Washington and panel discussion from Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing Ken Ball.

As the first female in her family to pursue STEM, Dania O-Abu Irshaid plans to trailblaze a path in cybersecurity after graduation.
