In the Polarization and Violence Transformed Peace Lab, researchers and practitioners are developing methods for peace-oriented responses to the negative impacts of extreme polarization and conflict around the globe.

Beginning Monday, September 22, the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at �鶹��Ƶ hosts its Fall 2025 Peace Week with the theme “Bridging Peacebuilding, Development, and Security.” This semi-annual series, launched in 2020, now draws thousands of participants to more than 30 in-person and virtual events each semester.

Alpaslan Özerdem, dean of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at �鶹��Ƶ, opened the 2025 Korea-U.S.-Japan Young Trilateral Leaders Regional Workshop Series, held in May at the Hiroshima Bunka Koryu Kaikan.

Four �鶹��Ƶ students from the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution traveled to Oxford University’s Magdalen College in the United Kingdom with Carter School dean Alpaslan Özerdem for the 2025 Oxford Consortium for Human Rights (OCHR). 

�鶹��Ƶ President Gregory Washington has announced the recipients of the 2025 Presidential Awards for Faculty Excellence, honoring 12 George �鶹��Ƶ faculty members for their work on behalf of the university, students, and the broader community.

On this episode of Access to Excellence, President Gregory Washington is joined by Marc Gopin to discuss the art of diplomacy by building one relationship at a time and creating a shared vision of peace.   

The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution is one of only two U.S. universities to receive the honor.

Susan Allen joined WTOP’s Sarah Jacobs to discuss Carter’s achievements, including being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

Charles Chavis, Jr., a professor at George �鶹��Ƶ’s Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the Founder and Director of the John Mitchell, Jr. Program for History, Justice, and Race, will be honored at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) In Concert Against Hate, which celebrates everyday heroes who speak out against hate and make a difference in their communities.

Solon Simmons, professor of conflict and analysis in the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, enters his first year as the �鶹��Ƶ Faculty Senate president. At George �鶹��Ƶ since 2006, Simmons has been a member of the senate for eight years.
