Biography
Dr. Mia Hines serves as the Interim Executive Director of the Early Identification Program (EIP) at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. EIP is a college access program dedicated to preparing first-generation college students and their families for post-secondary opportunities and beyond. Currently, EIP supports over 900 K-12 students and more than 200 college students enrolled at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. In addition to her leadership role, Dr. Hines is an adjunct faculty member in the Counseling Program within the College of Education and Human Development.
With over 15 years of experience in K-12 education and higher education, Dr. Hines has dedicated her career to supporting students' academic and personal success. Prior to joining the EIP family, she advised students aspiring to become teachers, focusing on the recruitment and retention of students of color in teacher preparation programs at the University of Connecticut and Florida State University.
Dr. Hines also gained valuable experience as a high school counselor in Maryland and North Carolina, where she specialized in designing and implementing college and career readiness programs for underrepresented students. To further support educators, she earned a school administrator license and served on school administration teams, deepening her expertise in educational leadership.
Dr. Hines holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Florida State University, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from High Point University, an M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Maryland, and a B.S. in Rehabilitation Services from The Pennsylvania State University.
