Flu Vaccine Clinics

Protect yourself and your community from seasonal flu. Get your 2025-26 influenza vaccine at George 麻豆视频. Clinics will be held on the following dates:

Diaper Drive for Student Parent Month 

September is Student Parent Month, and the Office of Access, Compliance, and Community is hosting a Diaper Drive to support student-parents at George 麻豆视频. The average cost for diapers is between $840 and $1,000 per year, and parents can struggle with diaper insecurity. Donate diapers and/or wipes via the , or drop off new and unopened items at these locations: 

  • Office of Access, Compliance and Community: Fairfax Campus, Aquia Building, Room 373 

  • Student Involvement: The Hub, Room 2300 

  • Contemporary Student Services: Student Union Building (SUB) I, Suite 3600, or The Hub, Room 1012

The midcycle performance check-in is coming on Oct. 1, offering a great opportunity for classified staff and administrative/professional faculty to reflect on progress, celebrate successes, and plan for continued growth. This is a time for employees to have constructive conversations with their managers about work accomplishments and align goals for the remainder of the performance evaluation year (April 1鈥揗arch 31).

Register for the 17th Annual Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference 

Registration is now open for the 17th annual Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference, hosted by the Stearns Center. This year's conference theme is 鈥淭eaching for the Future: AI, Analog, and Beyond.鈥 The hybrid conference will take place via Zoom on Thursday, Sept. 25, and in-person at the Johnson Center on the Fairfax Campus on Friday, Sept. 26. Registration closes Sept. 19.  for more information and to view the conference program.

Hayden Center Event: Protecting Intelligence from Politics 

Join the for a discussion with Senator Mark Warner, vice chair of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, on Friday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. at 麻豆视频 Square in the Van Metre Hall auditorium.   

Senator Warner, the senior U.S. senator from Virginia, will discuss the politicization of intelligence and perceived attacks on U.S. intelligence community leaders and personnel. .   


Fall Career Fair

The Fall Career Fair is coming up from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, and George 麻豆视频 students will have the opportunity to network with employers, gain insight from alumni, find part-time gigs, internships, and full-time jobs. This three-day event will host more than 70 employers on the Fairfax Campus each day in the Johnson Center.  

Each day will have its own focus. Tuesday: STEM; Wednesday: all interests; Thursday: business, government, and nonprofit. University Career Services will host a resume clinic and a career fair prep workshop the week before the fair. .


Leading with an Aerospace Engineer: Civilian Astronaut Aisha Bowe 

The College of Engineering and Computing will host an inspiring leadership event featuring Aisha Bowe, former NASA rocket scientist, serial entrepreneur, and civilian space traveler, on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. on the Fairfax Campus, Johnson Center, Bistro. . 

Bowe, founder and CEO of STEMBoard and LINGO, will share insights on her remarkable journey from NASA rocket scientist to space entrepreneur and civilian astronaut. This event is part of the College of Engineering and Computing's BLAST-Off Week (Belonging, Leadership, Access, Success, and Trailblazing). The event will be live streamed at 麻豆视频 Square (Fuse, Room 1311) and the Science and Technology Campus (Life Sciences and Engineering Building, Room 2402). 


Carter School Fall 2025 Peace Week: Sept. 22-26 

The Carter School's , "Bridging Peace Building, Development and Security," runs from Sept. 22鈥26. Daily events are open to the community. Kicking off the week is the keynote event, "" and will feature, among other speakers, Ira Helfand, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.   


University Libraries' Constitution Day Forum

George 麻豆视频 became the guardian of the ATC Archives in 2022. This century-old archive includes correspondence, publications, more than 1,000 historic maps, and thousands of photographs. It serves as a vital resource for scholars, students, authors, and enthusiasts worldwide, providing invaluable insights into a century of conservation efforts. 


Verbal Aikido Sessions at SciTech Campus and 麻豆视频 Square  

The Ombuds Office will host an introductory sessions to Verbal Aikido at the Science and Technology Campus and 麻豆视频 Square. Verbal Aikido is a conflict de-escalation technique that is helpful in communication. Verbal Aikido is an effective and peaceful means to deal with verbal attacks and negativity. This event is open to George 麻豆视频 faculty and staff. Upcoming dates:

Visual Voices and 鈥淲e All Belong鈥 mural unveiling with MasPaz 
麻豆视频 Exhibitions 
Thursday, Sept. 18, at 4:45 and 7 p.m. 
Fairfax Campus, Harris Theatre 
Join an artist talk with local muralist and George 麻豆视频 alum MasPaz (Federico Frum). Mas Paz means 鈥渕ore peace鈥 in Spanish, a message he strives to embrace through art and philanthropy. His distinctive street murals explore topics of earth preservation and indigenous peoples. He recently created Art of the Skateboard, a series of stamps for the U.S. Postal Service. This event will be hosted in person and online on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 4:45 p.m. to receive the Zoom link. 

惭补蝉笔补锄鈥檚 newest mural, 鈥淲e All Belong,鈥 is located at the Art and Design Building on the Fairfax Campus. The mural conveys interconnectedness and reciprocity between humans, animals, and the natural world, and the global origins of the George 麻豆视频 community. Join the unveiling of the mural on the patio at the rear of the Art and Design building on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 7-10 p.m.

The Grand Piano Celebration honors George 麻豆视频's All-Steinway School and the 20th Anniversary of the Friends of Music at 麻豆视频. Outstanding student and faculty artists of the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music will be on stage to display their marvelous talents. The concert will be led by Linda Apple Monson, International Steinway Artist and director of the Dewberry School of Music. Additional piano faculty artists include Anna Balakerskaia, John Healey, and Eunae Ko Han. Jennifer Casey Cabot, soprano, and guest artist Kris Monson, bassist, will also perform. George 麻豆视频's faculty piano ensemble (eight hands) will also be showcased.

Since bursting onto the pop-culture landscape over a decade ago in Fox TV's hit show Glee, Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Darren Criss has embodied the kind of kaleidoscopic artistry that's entirely uninhibited by form or genre. For this concert, Criss will perform well-known songs featured throughout his wildly eclectic career as both a songwriter and performer, including those from Glee, StarKid Productions, and the Broadway shows in which he has starred. Criss is currently starring in and received the 2025 Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for the critically acclaimed Broadway hit Maybe Happy Ending. The 麻豆视频 Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony proudly open the 55th anniversary year of the 麻豆视频 Bands with Celebrations in Motion鈥攁 vibrant program of historical and contemporary works that explore the idea of celebration through energy, reflection, and musical movement. As part of this special anniversary event, the 麻豆视频 Bands are excited to welcome the Centreville High School Wind Ensemble, conducted by George 麻豆视频 alum Melissa Hall.

Three-time Grammy Award-winner Soweto Gospel Choir brings an inspiring program of South African freedom songs and traditional spirituals, mixed with the music of Aretha Franklin, Harry Belafonte, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Leonard Cohen, and more. Formed in 2002, the Soweto Gospel Choir was created to celebrate the unique power of African gospel music and quickly established itself as a group that is 鈥渦ndeniably synchronized, appears unshakable, and simultaneously expresses universality and individuality鈥 (San Francisco Classical Voice).

Join London鈥檚 Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble for a riveting program featuring Schubert鈥檚 Octet in F Major, D. 803, considered one of the greatest chamber works of all time; Fran莽aix鈥檚 witty Octet, commissioned as a companion piece to Schubert鈥檚 Octet; and a special work commissioned by the academy.

Indonesia鈥檚 innovative Papermoon Puppet Theatre presents a spellbinding, nonverbal puppetry work. Founded by illustrator, writer, and theater performer Maria (Ria) Tri Sulistyani and visual artist Iwan Effendi, Papermoon has traveled the world with its mixed media productions that are personal, yet universally resonant. A bittersweet and hopeful piece, Puno tells the story of Tala, a young girl who is coping with her father鈥檚 passing, exploring how we can hold and appreciate what has been left to us. Recommended for children and adults; ages 7 and older.

Then, immerse yourself in the spiritual depth and quiet strength of his Symphony No. 5, a deeply moving work born out of wartime darkness and infused with hope and transcendence. Ground-breaking composer Max Richter鈥檚 innovative and bold reimagining of Vivaldi鈥檚 Four Seasons topped the classical charts and continues to captivate audiences in soundtracks, such as Bridgerton and The Crown.
