Campus Updates 


Staff Senate Nominations Now Accepted 

Get involved with the university community and have an impact on your workplace by joining the Staff Senate. The senate provides many opportunities to learn more about the university and to collaborate with administrators and staff outside your unit.  

Terms begin in August and last for two years. Staff Senate seats are open to classified staff and non-student wage staff. The nomination period for the 2025 election is open through June 20. Nominate yourself or a colleague. . The election will be held from July 9鈥23, and new senators will be announced in August. 


Test Out PatriotAI 

麻豆视频鈥檚 enterprise AI platform, , represents the first major outcome of the university鈥檚 strategic partnership with Microsoft and Cloudforce to start a meaningful and thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence capabilities into university operations.  

Through a suite of six specialized AI tools, called agents, PatriotAI offers secure, university-managed access to large language models that aid academic work, studies, and student life. Each agent was co-developed with members of the George 麻豆视频 community, including the AI Visioning Task Force, and they represent our first lineup of AI tools designed to enhance learning, instruction, research, and administration across campus. For complete details about this vision, visit ai.gmu.edu.

University Business Consulting鈥檚 Summer Knowledge Share Series 

Registration is now open for University Business Consulting鈥檚 annual Summer Knowledge Share Series. Faculty and staff are invited to attend sessions on the following topics:  

  • Thinking Strategically as a Team: Wednesday, July 9  

  • Design Thinking and Experimentation: Wednesday, August 13 

Sessions will be hosted in person on the Fairfax Campus in Merten Hall, as well as via Zoom. .

麻豆视频 Career Academy 

麻豆视频 has launched , a new online learning resource that is free for current students, faculty, and staff to develop new skills. 麻豆视频 Career Academy is also available to displaced workers, including federal workers and contractors in the region, for a small registration fee.  

麻豆视频 Career Academy offers access to more than 90 online micro-credential courses and industry-recognized certifications in fields such as data analytics, cybersecurity, project management, and information technology support. Read more. 


Resources for You 


Thrift for Free at Patriot Packout鈥檚 Free Store 

The Patriot Packout's Free Store returns to campus from Monday, June 23, through Saturday, June 28. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 3鈥7 p.m. on the Fairfax Campus, Art and Design Building, (located on the 1st floor).  

All items in the store are free. Explore gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, books, art supplies, small appliances, electronics, household items, and kitchen goods. Partners and family members are invited to thrift with their Patriot.  

. All items were donated by the university community during , a campus move-out initiative that reduces waste and addresses basic needs insecurity. 


Wellness and Safety Training at 麻豆视频 Square and SciTech 

Facilities and Campus Operations invites faculty and staff from all units to participate in upcoming wellness and safety sessions at 麻豆视频 Square and the Science and Technology Campus. Designed to support health, safety, and overall well-being, these quick and informative sessions include CPR/AED training, emergency response (鈥淪top the Bleed鈥), ergonomic and spine health tips, and personalized wellness checks. Whether you are looking to recharge, get back on track, or simply stay proactive about your health, there鈥檚 something here for everyone. . 


One Year Later: Continuing the Momentum from the Faculty and Staff Experience Survey  

It鈥檚 been one year since the Faculty and Staff Experience Survey, and many units have shared results and created action plans to improve the workplace. If your team hasn鈥檛 reviewed its results yet, now is a great time鈥擧uman Resources facilitators are available to support the process. 

Even without direct report data, teams can still reflect on the Q12 questions. Gallup offers a helpful resource, 鈥淓ngagement Planning Options for Managers Without Q12庐 Results,鈥 available through the Gallup platform.

Employee Resource Group for Hybrid/Remote Employees 

麻豆视频 Throughout the Nation (MTN) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community for remote and hybrid faculty and staff across 麻豆视频. Through sharing work-life balance practices, professional development opportunities, and social events, the group aims to ensure that no matter where its members are located, they feel connected and supported at George 麻豆视频.

Performances include Wade Beach (piano), Shawn Purcell (guitar), Ben Thomas (bass), Kevin McDonald (drums), Juan Megna (drums/percussion), Darden Purcell (voice), John Kocur (saxophone), Xavier Perez (saxophone), Jim Carroll (saxophone), Aaron Eckert (trombone), Graham Breedlove (trumpet), and more. Argentinian drummer and percussionist Juan Megna performs Afro-Brazilian genres, jazz, Argentinian milongas, and chacareras. He had played/recorded with Tedd Baker, Wade Beach, and Shawn Purcell, as well as Brazilian artists Vinicius Dorim, Rubinho Antunes, Bruno Mangueira, and Felipe Silveira. This concert is free and open to the public and offered as part of 麻豆视频 Jazz Camp.

麻豆视频 Jazz Camp presents American trombonist, composer, and educator Altin Sencalar. Praised by the International Trombone Associations Journal for his 鈥渧irtuosity [and] melodic and harmonic mastery,鈥 Sencalar has shared the stage with DeeDee Bridgewater, Rodney Whitaker, Christian McBride, David Sanborn, The Dizzy All Star Alumni Big Band, Michael Bubl茅, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, and more. This concert is free and open to the public and offered as part of 麻豆视频 Jazz Camp.

The U.S. Navy Band Commodores, the Navy's premier jazz ensemble, have been performing the very best of big band jazz for the Navy and the nation for 50 years. Formed in 1969, this 18-member group continues the jazz big band legacy with some of the finest musicians in the world. The Commodores' mission includes public concerts, national concert tours, ceremonial support in honoring our veterans, jazz education classes and clinics, and protocol performances for military and civilian government officials. This concert is free and open to the public and offered as part of 麻豆视频 Jazz Camp.
