Summer Staff Appreciation Events

The Staff Senate will host  to kick off summer and the fiscal new year at three locations. Refreshments will be provided by Rita's Ice.  

Classified and non-student wage staff are invited to register for a time slot at the location of their choosing using the links below:

Summer Plaza Programming at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Square

 hosts dynamic weekly programming and ongoing special events, open to the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and greater Arlington communities. All activities are free and open to the public.  

 includes exercise classes, story time (for all ages), outdoor office time, and more.   

Check out the Summer Cinema Series, heading "Back to the '90s" with movies like The Lion King (June 30) and Men in Black (July 21). Movies on the Plaza start at 8 p.m. .

The nomination period for the  started Monday, June 12, and ends on Friday, June 23.  

The  represents all classified and non-student wage employees at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, addressing issues that affect the quality of work-life at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

Faculty/Staff Engagement Summer Workshop Opportunities

The Faculty and Staff Engagement Team is offering several engagement workshops this summer, including: 

  • Workplace Appreciation 
  • Engagement in Action: Strategies for Supervisors 
  • Engagement in Action: Non-Supervisor Contributions

Adjunct Faculty Success Workshop Set for August 12 

The  is specifically designed to meet the unique needs and challenges faced by adjunct faculty, support their transition to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, and develop practical teaching and learning strategies for success with their students.   

The workshop will be hosted virtually on Saturday, August 12. .

Faculty/Staff Bike Commuter Choice

Do you live within a few miles of campus and think biking to work could be good for your well-being? All faculty and staff (non-student) are eligible to participate in the Bike Commuter Choice Program.  

The program has four tiers of support. The more you ride, the greater the financial incentive. The introductory tier is just five rides per quarter. For details, visit and select the Faculty/Staff Bike Commuter Choice Program.

Kritikos Anti-Racist Reading Group

The College of Visual and Performing Arts welcomes the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ community to the , which meets on Fridays from 1–2:30 p.m. on Zoom. 

The group holds a commitment to relationship-building, awareness, reimagining, transformation, and action around anti-racist practices, racial justice, the creation of conversations, as well as systems of compassion and healing. The group continues to focus on anti-Black racism and its effects on society.      

Join the meeting on Friday, June 23, from 1-2:30 p.m. for the following topic: “The Roll Back: Then, Again and Now Materials." Weekly summer meetings will occur through August 4. This event is free and open to the public. 


Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Exhibitions: 'Edges of What I Feel' 

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Exhibitions Arlington presents , an exhibit that challenges the viewer to confront and embrace uncomfortable realities about mental and physical health. The exhibition features the work of the Healing Artist Collective and is open through August 26.  

The artists will host workshops and events every Friday and Saturday during the exhibition. Follow  to stay updated on future events.

Mike Kamuf Little Big Band is a jazz ensemble that brings together eight talented musicians from the Washington, D.C./Baltimore region. The group’s repertoire consists of original compositions and arrangements penned by Mike Kamuf, as well as jazz standards and selections from the Great American Songbook.

Wolf is a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland. From age three, Wolf has been trained on the vibraphone/marimba, drums, and piano. Under the guidance of his father, Warren Wolf Sr., he has a deep background in all genres of music from classical to ragtime to jazz.

Pied Piper Theatre presents Disney Descendants: The Musical, based on the popular Disney Channel original movie. Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, the teenage children of Maleficent, Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off this island—until now, when the four troublemakers are sent off to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes. They have a difficult choice to make; should they follow in their parents' wicked footsteps, or learn to be good?

Prince William Little Theatre and Manassas Symphony Orchestra join forces to present this Tony and Olivier Award-winning Broadway classic. One of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture, Lionel Bart's iconic musical, based on the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, transports the audience to the streets of Victorian England where orphan Oliver navigates the city’s streets of crime searching for a home, family, and love.
