The Patriot Pitch Competition supports idea and early-stage business ventures and is open to current �鶹��Ƶ students and recent alumni from all majors/fields of study.

This year’s competition is being led by the School of Business and includes interdisciplinary collaboration from the College of Engineering and Computing and the College of Science. Finalist teams will participate in mentoring sessions this March and make their pitches in front of a live audience THIS Thursday on Thursday, April 13 in Dewberry Hall.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. with entrepreneur Nicole Washington, Founder and CEO of Boralogix, as our esteemed keynote speaker. School of Business Dean Ajay Vinzé and other speakers from �鶹��Ƶ’s entrepreneurial ecosystem will follow. A light lunch from HUNGRY & a networking opportunity for registered attendees will precede the pitches.

The pitches will begin at 12:00 p.m. The event is open to spectators. There will also be a “�鶹��Ƶ’s Choice Award,” inviting the audience to vote on their favorite pitches and join the fun! Only registered attendees can vote, so be sure to register early.

From 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., there will be 4 teams pitching in each of the 4 tracks: Public Engagement, STEM, Social Impact, and General Entrepreneurship. An awards ceremony and networking opportunity for competitors, judges, mentors and coaches, and audience members will follow.

The Spring 2023 graduation application is now open. For graduation timelines, please click here. Students must apply to graduate by February 22, 2023 to have their names printed in the spring commencement program.

Summer 2023 graduates should not apply for Spring graduation. Instead, students who apply for Summer graduation between January 29, 2023 and February 22, 2023 will be included in the spring commencement program.

Spring 2023 registration is quickly approaching.

These are the registration priority dates for the current registration term: Spring 2023

November 1, 2022: Graduate Students

November 3, 2022: Seniors (90+ hours earned)

November 7, 2022: Juniors (60-89 hours earned)

November 9, 2022: Sophomores and All Non-Degree ADVANCE Students (30-59 hours earned)

November 11 2022: Freshmen (0-29 hours earned)

January 4, 2022: Non-Degree Undergraduate Students

During the registration periods, the School of Business advising team will offer peak advising times which will require adjustments to our advising services in order to accommodate as many students as possible. Click here to join virtual drop ins and/or schedule an advising appointments.

Peak Advising Hours will be as follows:

Peak Advising will be held from Monday, October 31 through Friday, November 11.

Mondays and Tuesdays

9:30-11:30 am and 1:00-4:00 pm virtual and in-office drop ins

�鶹��Ƶ This Course

What is the role of business in creating positive social change? In this class, we will examine how businesses can be both profitable and kind to people and the planet. We will look at both large and small companies to understand how they are achieving economic, social, and environmental sustainability. An important aspect of the course will be examination of some companies who are making great efforts to protect the environment, as the dangers of global warming are becoming ever more evident.

Course Highlights

Examination of several large and well know companies involved in moving toward sustainability, including Nike, Ikea, ING, Nestle, BMW, and LG.
Examination of new companies that were conceptualized as circular economy companies and operated sustainably from inception.
Course will include several guest speakers from industry.

*BUS 491 is a multidisciplinary course open to students of all majors. No prerequisites required. Credits: 3
